Basic Research Office released the final report from the Future Directions in Human Machine Teaming Workshop
On January 29, the Basic Research Office released the final report from the Future Directions in Human Machine Teaming Workshop in July 2019.
This workshop convened researchers in the cognitive science, computer science, and human-oriented design communities to discuss opportunities and challenges for developing artificial agents that are built and designed around human cognition rather than systems developed independently. The final report, written by workshop Co-chairs Drs. John Laird (University of Michigan), Charan Ranganath (University of California, Davis), and Samuel Gershman (Harvard University), is intended to be broadly disseminated, allowing those from the academic community, the DoD enterprise, federal partners, and other stakeholders to gain a high-level perspective of the opportunities in this inter-sectional research space.

The National Defense Education Program (NDEP) Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is now on Grants.gov, announcement HQ0034-20-S-FO01. The Department of Defense (DoD) seeks innovative applications on mechanisms to implement Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, outreach, and/or workforce initiative programs. The Department intends to award multiple grants, subject to the availability of funds. Activities will support the DoD STEM strategic plan and align to the 2018 Federal STEM strategic plan. Suspense for applications is 24 FEB 2020.

Defense Department Invests $32 Million in Manufacturing Engineering Education Program
The Department of Defense, through the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, has selected seven awardees for the Manufacturing Engineering Education Program. These distinguished educational and industry partners will receive more than $32 million over a three-year period to establish or expand educational opportunities for Americans to acquire manufacturing skills critical to sustaining the U.S. defense innovation base.
